Maples News · LENAWEE UNITED FIGURE SKATING WINS INAUGURAL COMPETITION


The Lenawee United High School figure skating team competed on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2021, at Hartland Ice House in the District 3 event. They competed in the “Level C” grouping against Hartland United Figure Skating and Howell High School Figure Skating. Our mighty team of two skaters earned first place in the jumps, moves, and spins categories for an overall first-place finish with nine total points. Their first-place finish has earned them an opportunity to compete at the 2021 Laura Maki High School State Championships for figure skating. The event is set to take place in Dearborn, MI, and will be hosted by the Rochester United Figure Skating team, March 27-28, 2021. Hartland United will be joining our team at the state championships as the 2nd place finisher in District 3. The competitive team is composed of skaters Annika Nelson (Adrian High School) and Jacob Costello. The team is coached by Nikki Czuhajewski and assisted by Caitlyn Churchill.

Final Results Level C Grouping:

1st Place – Lenawee United – 9 Points

2nd Place – Hartland United – 5 Points

3rd Place – Howell HS – 4 Points
